About Me

My name is Kelsie Carlson and I am a sophomore attending NNU. I have had a slightly different background from many at NNU. I was born in South Africa and was spent my earliest years in a small African kingdom called Swaziland before we permanently moved to South Africa. I loved my life. I got the best of two worlds - I grew up in a British styled school (with many races represented) but also had a large taste of Africa through the black church that my family were members of. So much of my childhood was an adventure.

I really enjoy sports and being active. I like to socialize, to be involved in clubs, and to do well in school. Children are also another passion that I have and so naturally teaching goes hand in hand with that. God also plays a major role in my life and I feel like teaching is one of the gifts that He has given me.

I want to teach because I want to inspire children. I want to love on them and boost their self esteems. It is my goal to help children believe in themselves. I also like to explain things and watch the light in young minds turn on. The age that I am most interested in teaching are grades 3-5 because many of those children are beginning to question their identity.

  1. Reading about you, I just figured out that I went to school with your parents! Even though we are worlds apart, it really is a small world. I love your passion for teaching and know that you will be an inspiration to your students. Growing up in another country will provide you with many stories to share and give you valuable life perspectives.
